Alex Jeffrey Pretti was a thirty seven year old intensive care unit specialist employed at The Department Of Veteran's Affairs, whom was shot multiple times and killed on January twenty fourth twenty twenty six by United States Customs and Border Protection agents in Minneapolis Minnesota.
Based on reports a few incidents may have led to this incident. Pretti was filming law enforcement agents while directing traffic with cell phone. It has also been reported at one point he became an obstruction between a woman and an agent after the agent had pushed to the ground by putting his arm around the woman.
He was then pepper sprayed, wrestled to the ground by several agents. Once on the ground being surrounded by six agents, Pretti was shot several times then for a brief moment, the agent was seen removing a gun from Pretti another agent fired with a voice saying gun gun gun before the shooting. According to video footage acquired from a variety of sources, footage showed that after Pretti was wrestled to the ground he was holding his cellphone and not an actual hand gun before being shot at at least times even after laying motionless.
Trump administration officials defended the shooting and criticized Pretti's possession of a firearm, which received widespread backlash from a variety of organization including the Nra Gun Owners Of America and fellow Republicans forcing the President to take a change in course of actions.
As widespread demonstrations took place across the nation on Friday, hundreds gathered around the Federal Court building located in the downtown Las Vegas region chanting anti ice slurs, with the Metropolitan police on the scene with barricades in place prior to the protestors arrival.
The protesters called for the shutting down of the community and economy by staying home from work and stepping away from school attendance. Even some Las Vegas businesses, in an attempt to show support and solidarity towards the protesters decided to shut their door. Businesses like Venila Cremery, Frescas Skate Shop, Afterlife Boba, and Yukon Pizza. Currently, based on national shutdown.org their were approximately two hundred and fifty protests scheduled across forty six states.
